The mission of the NJPPC is to transform access to mental health care by empowering pediatricians.  The NJPPC provides pediatricians with timely access to child/adolescent psychiatric consultation and facilitates referrals for accessing ongoing mental health care. The pediatrician manages your child’s mental health needs (including medications when indicated) through ongoing collaboration with NJPPC mental health professionals. We know that managing the emotional and mental health needs of a child can be a sensitive issue. That is why our team of social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists, are committed to sharing their expertise with you and your pediatrician to develop treatment plans that suit your child’s needs!

Care Coordination

  • The assigned clinical navigator contacts parents to complete a biopsychosocial assessment
  • Navigators research and outreach to community resources and providers, evaluate care options (CBT, psychiatric evaluations, etc.), and connect with families to make appropriate referrals to community resources tailored to the patient’s clinical needs
  • Our team works to find resources and services that are in-network with each patient’s insurance and looks to ensure that there are limited wait times to help mitigate common barriers of connecting to services

Ongoing Collaboration

  • Mental Health Specialists call within one week to ensure connections have been made with appropriate resources. If not, the patient will be followed up with until the appropriate connections are made with the community provider.
  • Navigators expand the breadth of resources available to the patient and family.
